Das Leben der Iranerinnen vor der islamischen Revolution wurde von zwei widersprüchlichen Faktoren bestimmt: dem traditionellen Patriarchat und der Modernisierungspolitik des Schahs. Saeed Nouris Collage aus Filmausschnitten porträtiert die häusliche und gesellschaftliche Situation der iranischen Frauen von 1932 (das Jahr des ersten Tonfilmes) bis zur Revolution von 1979 – überwiegend aus dem Blick männlicher Filmschaffender. Die Themen sind Familienehre, Liebe und Betrug, ungewollte Schwangerschaften und Schwangerschaftsabbrüche, arrangierte Ehen und Polygamie.

Saeed Nouri (*1974 in Teheran) studierte Film in Teheran, gründete 2014 das Wings of Desire Institute, promovierte in Frankreich, drehte Kurz- und Dokumentarfilme, forschte zu iranischen Filmemachern, und sein aktueller Film feierte 2025 in Rotterdam Weltpremiere.

The lives of Iranian women before the Islamic Revolution were determined by two contradictory factors: the traditional patriarchy and the Shah's modernization policy. Saeed Nouri's collage of film excerpts portrays the domestic and social situation of Iranian women from 1932 (the year of the first sound film) to the 1979 revolution - predominantly from the perspective of male filmmakers. The themes are family honor, love and betrayal, unwanted pregnancies and abortions, arranged marriages and polygamy.
